Uraga Washing Station
The Guji-Uraga washing station, run by Kuri Mountain Coffee and led by Habtamu Fekadu Aga, was founded in 2015. It’s located in Koba in Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, at 2,000–2,250 meters elevation. About 450 small farmers supply coffee grown on roughly 500 hectares of land. The Guji Zone
Guji is a well-known coffee region in southern Ethiopia. Its rich soil and high elevation produce coffees with bright acidity, floral aromas, and complex flavors.Coffee Varieties
This coffee is made from varieties 74110 and 74112, developed in Ethiopia for disease resistance and quality. They’re known for floral and citrus notes in the cup.Washed Processing
The coffee is washed, meaning the fruit is removed with water before drying. Beans are then dried on raised beds for 11–13 days. This process creates a clean, bright flavor and highlights the coffee’s origin.Ethiopian Coffee History
Ethiopia is considered the birthplace of coffee. The story of Kaldi, a goat herder who discovered coffee, is part of its history. Coffee remains an important part of Ethiopian culture, with traditions and ceremonies built around it.
